This spell is used to disarm another wizard, typically by causing the victim’s wand to fly out of reach. In the Order of the Phoenix, Harry refers to “expelliarmus” as the wizard’s bread and butter, one of the single most important duelling charms. It is the spell that reflects Voldemort’s killing curse during the final battle.
